Water Safety

We  believe that in teaching children to swim, we also have a responsibility to teach them to respect the dangers that water can present and how to keep themselves and others safe while they are around it.

Dylan was a healthy boy and a competent swimmer who lost his life due to cold water shock after going for a swim in a quarry. Find out more by copy and pasting this link to your browser:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uUixlG4f0VEWe

Our STA International Learn to Swim Programme emphasises water safety early on introducing skills such as treading water as soon as the children start to swim.

We hold a pyjama parties every year for Children in Need. All our swimmers whatever their age or ability join in and are introduced to water safety issues.

We also hold pyjama parties and a Junior Lifeguard competition each year during Water Safety Week. Molly was our champion lifeguard in the older age group and Luca for the younger in 2015

We run a weekly STA Junior Lifeguard Academy during term time and.............

Junior Lifeguard / Junior Medic courses during the summer holidays
