Our Story
Founded by Julie in 2002, the swim school has grown from one session at Cranmore on a Thursday evening, to offering after school lessons 5 days a week as well as holiday courses. We are very proud to have just celebrated our 21st anniversary!
Julie's passion for swimming began the moment she learnt to swim and she went on to swim competitively for Guildford City Swimming Club. It was spending so much time poolside that led Julie's mother to train as a swimming teacher. Her father helped to build a pool at her primary school, Goldsworth, which is one of our venues today!
Both Julie and her mother, Marian, worked locally in Guildford for many years before starting lessons of their own. Our Friday session at Boxgrove was originally Marian's. Both Lianne and Angelina learnt to swim there, going on to become pool helpers and then qualified swimming teachers. So, we really mean it when we say we are a family business!
Having built a successful business, Julie became a tutor for the STA in order to train the next generation of teachers. Many of our younger staff have learnt to swim with us and have moved up through the ranks all the way to becoming teachers!
Through our swim school, we give everyone the opportunity to learn an important life skill, whilst making sure they are having fun and keeping active. Our hope is that this will lead to a life long love of water!
